Work package description
Work package number and title: WP1 Workshop on Structure and Functions of Biomolecules.

Objectives:

The aim of the workshop is to provide a forum for Polish and European physicists, chemists and biophysicists working in the field of proteomics. The program will cover the whole spectrum of problems related to the most recent experimental and theoretical aspects of the structure, dynamics and function of biomolecules.

Description of the contents:

topics of the planned workshop will provide both experimental and theoretical approach to the recent advances in modern structural biology and biophysics. The experimental scope will cover the state-of-the-art achievements from the field of X-ray crystallography, optical spectroscopy, and NMR / ESR spectroscopies of biomolecules. The major stress will be on the molecular dynamics of proteins and structural analysis of transient structures. The theoretical aspects will involve simplified and all-atom modelling of proteins.

The topic of the planned workshop will include:

  • a 3 day-long workshop in September 2004.
  • About 20 invited speakers, chosen from leading experts from EC
  • Approximately 80 participants.
  • Apart from invited talks there are to be contributed presentations in the poster and/or oral form.
  • Proceedings will be published as a special volume of an internationally recognized journal.
Persons responsible in the Centre: Prof. Marek Cieplak, and Dr Andrzej Sienkiewicz.
